Quick Setup Guide
Transform your Android phone into a powerful SMS gateway in just a few steps
Install the Android App
Download and install the SMSTunnel app on your Android phone. This app will turn your phone into an SMS gateway.
Download Options:
Installing from APK?
You may need to enable "Install from unknown sources" in your phone's settings. Go to Settings → Security → Unknown sources and enable it.
Sign In to Your Account
Open the app and sign in. You have multiple options:
One-tap sign in
Classic registration
QR Code
Scan from dashboard
First time?
Don't have an account yet? The app will create one for you automatically when you sign in with Google or register with email.
Install the WordPress Plugin
Install the SMSTunnel plugin on your WordPress site. This plugin connects your website to your phone.
Installation Steps:

Download the plugin ZIP file
Download smstunnel.zip - 2
Go to WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin

Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now

Click Activate Plugin
After activation
You'll see a new SMSTunnel menu in your WordPress admin sidebar. Click on it to start the setup wizard.
Connect Your Phone to WordPress
Pair your phone with your WordPress site using the Quick Setup wizard.
Pairing Methods:
Sign in with Google / Facebook (Recommended)
Fastest setup - API Key is set automatically!
- 1. In WordPress, go to SMSTunnel → Quick Setup
- 2. Click "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook"
- 3. Authorize the connection
- 4. Done! API key is configured automatically
One-click setup, no manual configuration needed
Email & Password Authentication
API Key is set automatically!
- 1. In WordPress, go to SMSTunnel → Quick Setup
- 2. Enter your SMSTunnel account email and password
- 3. Click "Connect"
- 4. Done! API key is configured automatically
Use the same credentials you used to register in the mobile app
Scan QR Code from App
API Key is set automatically!
- 1. In WordPress, go to SMSTunnel → Quick Setup
- 2. A QR code will be displayed
- 3. In the app, tap Scan QR Code
- 4. Point your camera at the QR code
- 5. Done! Your phone is now connected
Manual API Key
- 1. Log in to smstunnel.io/dashboard
- 2. Go to API Keys and create a new key
- 3. Copy the API key
- 4. In WordPress, go to SMSTunnel → Settings
- 5. Paste the API key and save
Keep your phone connected!
The app needs to stay running in the background. Make sure to disable battery optimization for SMSTunnel in your phone settings.

Optional: E2E Encryption Key Pairing

For maximum privacy, pair your encryption keys directly between the phone and WordPress plugin. Scan the QR code from your plugin settings to share encryption keys - the keys are never sent to SMSTunnel servers, so nobody (not even us) can decrypt your messages.
- 1. In WordPress, go to SMSTunnel → Encryption Settings
- 2. Generate a new encryption key pair
- 3. Scan the QR code with the SMSTunnel app
- 4. Keys are paired locally - end-to-end encryption is now active!
